Project Overview
This structural kitchen opening project in Croydon, CR0 3BL, involved the careful removal of an existing load-bearing wall to create the foundation for a modern open-plan kitchen and living space.
The works included temporary structural support, controlled demolition of the original wall and installation of a bespoke structural steel beam system in accordance with structural engineer calculations and Building Control requirements. Due to the complexity of the existing residential structure, close attention was given to load distribution, structural tolerances and safe integration with the original building fabric.

Structural & Exterior Works
Temporary support systems were installed throughout the works to keep the property stable and secure during the structural alteration. The original wall and ceiling sections were carefully opened up, allowing the steel beam to be positioned precisely within the existing structure.
The steel installation required careful planning and accurate execution, particularly due to the limited working space and the need to protect the surrounding property during construction.

The newly created opening has dramatically improved the flow of space and natural light across the ground floor, creating the structural foundation for a future open-plan kitchen and living area.
This project is currently in progress, with further renovation and finishing works to follow once the main structural phase is complete.
